An estimate by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that adolescents with developmental disabilities are significantly more likely than peers to struggle with weight, and those with autism are at greatest risk. Thirty-two percent of those with autism are obese, and this poses added chronic health risks. Obesity prevention and management approaches need further consideration.
